Dracula mission: failed!!!

by | | 2 comments

Ward duty in the medical posting is practically tiring. Before 5pm I was already all drenched out under that nylon white coat. Thinking of the following 'on call' duty later is really an additional whip of torture to the mind. However, time seems to just past as the night proceeds. The 'on call' duty was more of taking up a 'dracula' job for the night. Being a freshie 3rd year student, venepuncture is the main procedure for a start. The doctors and nurses will just gladly assign you the specimen bottles and tell you the bed number. Then, just before you go prepare the 'tools' needed for the job, slowly you take a walk, search for the victim, and take a peek on who and how he or she is. After that, you will either feel more relieved, or you will feel that your palpitations just got faster. Throughout the proccess, the only things I felt was palpitations and focal concentration. Seeing blood oozing out is the only relieving factor. Most of the times it does seems as if we are looking for victims to be guinea pig, especially from the look patients gave. And the best part is that patients can really groan as you perform your job and also 'merajuk' if you failed to accomplish the given task. Now you think being a dracula is easy? I wish I don't have to. But I am thankful enough that I've not experienced that. However, today is really not my night.
Dracula mission: Failed!!!
Ah! I am so depressed! I felt so sorry :(

how come I was not told

I was well aware of how hard medical studies could be, how crazily hectic a doctor's life would be, but how come I was not told that leg and back ache are part of the great difficulties to anticipate?

Lenguh betul kaki aku! Pinggang terasa macam nak putus dah 'wei'!

Just make friends

If life is tough enough, if life is complicated enough, or if life is hecticly tiring enough; shouldn't our existence made it easier for each other?

Maybe we don't have to like everyone, just make friends...

Thursday relief

by | | 0 comments
After whole week of strenously hectic week, the weekend has finally come. What a relief! For the past one week, it is as if I don't even remember to have the time to take a breath. Early in the morning, before the day is lighted up, we have to crawl out of our bed to prepare to go to the hospital. From there, ward duties, clinics, bed-side-teachings (BST), continuous medical education (cme), presentation, lectures all continuosly, NON STOP. That is only one thing. A typical starts around 6 sthg in the morning until +/- 1130pm (depending whenever the lectures end). On an even more packed day, there will only be a merciful time just enough for us to gobble our lunch/dinner before resuming the activities again.

By Thursday, everyone was much relieved. After dinner, we stopped by this fair (some ladang and ternakan thingy). It was quite interesting. There were really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really huge cows, bull, and also some goats. They even have dalmantian species of goats! Besides that, there is lots of other things to see and buy. We even saw a Sabah cultural dance. The canopies were all nicely decorated and it is themed according to the states in Malaysia.

Well, thats all for today.. "Happy ' Merdeka', people!" :)

Not dead, just stranded

by | | 0 comments
In case you are wondering why have I not been updating my blog lately, I am not dead; just stranded. I am stranded in Bukit Khor in the district of Rusila, Marang not for a year or two, but for three years!!! (provided that I pass my exam of course)

Thats the UCSI KT in campus hostel, where I am staying now. If you are looking down from an airplane or helicopter, you'll know you spot me when you see a lot of hills and in the midst of no where, you suddenly see some building with red spots.

The building far back there is the hospital I am posted to for my clinical years and thats Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah, Kuala Terengganu.

Modesto-Hilton

Few days ago, we decided to have some sort of a "high-class night" for fun. We were thinking of Argentina Steakhouse but flipping over the menu placed outside, it doesn't look too interesting so we jumped to the next door neighbour instead.

Dinner at Modesto (the restaurant), KL

There was only 2 table of diners, including us, that night. The surrounding and the ambience was nothing impressive or really worth mentioning about but it is still not a bad place though. It is simple and not crowded. Moving on to the food, no doubt they really pamper your taste buds with their deliciously fine cooking. However, it is not quite a satisfying meal. The portions are really small lor~!

(Chef's recommended) Pasta & Lamb shank with red wine and herbs

Comparitively speaking, the price wasn't really expensive for these kind of meal BUT given that size of the portion served on your plate, this place is awfully pricey. At least it gives you the feeling that it is not worth it.

After dinner, we drove to Hilton and have a drink. Since Le Meridien was just beside Hilton, we walked around, sipping in the 'classy' air. It was incredibly fulfilling. Le Meridien feels more cosy while Hilton is more lively. I decided we should go Hilton and so we went.

Le Meridien's lobby.

Le Meridien's passport.

Hilton hotel and my choco cinno.

A cup of rich and frothy drink, that gives you the "slluuurrrrrpppp....aahhhhhh" feeling, is simply perfect to conclude our night. That's our night out in KL.
