'Frog-rein' body in my house

by | | 1 comments
In medical practice, presence of foreign body in the body is almost always an emergency. Since, it is 'foreign', meaning not supposed to be there, the principle of management is: to remove the foreign body.

So, I have a case here.

It was almost 11pm and I was walking into the kitchen when I noticed a small 'mass' over the right corner of my kitchen wall. The light was not on. I strained my eyes a little, trying to make out what the heck is that 'mass'. To my horror, i noted two "biji" of eye sitting over its upper surface. It's a freaking frog!!! Omy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is that creature doing in here? House is meant to be inhabited by human, not frog! Or toad (cause it looks ugly).

walaaaaoooooo.........~~~!!!!!!!!

How am I supposed to deal with this?! Living alone/ away from home I have to admit is not easy. I don't mind to cook, wash, clean, etc by myself. But, dealing with 'foreign body' in the house is really beyond my capability lor. I am not that independent.

I asked the help from one of my housemate. She brought a stick along. It didn't help though. The not-so-big frog was leaping at like about half meter height lor. Scary!

I suggested to call 'Bomba' (firemen) to come and remove that 'foreign body' but my friend gave me a weird look.

Well, the frog may not bite but this is freaking scary leh. How to approach? Moreover, it is jumping like mad. If it is a cockroach, I can at least spray with insecticide then they will grow weaker and weaker and then eventually dead. But, for a frog, I really don't know how. Plus, we have already attempted the 'removal' but failed. So, why can't I call the Bomba? It is some sort, more of less, an emergency, right?

My friend said Bomba will scold if they knew they were called here just to remove a frog from a house.

Sigh.

In the end, the frog jumped and hid under the boxes below the table. My housemate pulled out the washing machine hose from the outlet with the hope that overnight, that frog will jump into that 'draining hole' (or whatever you call it).

Well,....help! anyone? please...

Missed MY flight!!!

by | | 2 comments
Overlooking the window, I saw an airplane taking off. The airplane which I am supposed to be sitting in. Ah! Horrible!

Someone (caring enough) asked, "Am I tramatized?"

"YES! The fare! Now, I have to take a freaking expensive flight back to sad-land, KT"

uuuurrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh.......... freaking traumatized! :(

When the mewing and barking won't stop...

Everyday I sat on my chair, listening to the rhythm of the falling rain. I woke up hearing the same music. I even fell asleep listening the same thing.

"Did someone forgot to turn the tap "off" 'up there'?" I would sometimes ask.

'tap-tap-tap...'. The tapping sounds continued.

Sometimes it would pour for few days, paused briefly, and rained again. And when it is raining continuously like now, the rhythm is actually not at all monotanous. It has alternating notes of 'cats-and-dogs' with 'kittens-and puppies', and also the soft drizzling notes.

Hmmm... come to think of it, should record this sound of monsoon nature. The splash and splatter could earn me money! Tee~ hee~...

Anyway, the rain was really heavy just now and the water rised fast. The scene of me squatting on my roof, with an umbrella, waiting for officers to come for rescue in a boat snapped into my mind. I turned to my housemate and told her, "You should have bought a sampan too." She said we should walk to the hospital instead. It is a good experience. I told her I would rather not go in reply and went of to take some pictures instead. Well, okay...that conversation was random and not really of any importance actually. Here are some pictures:

The drain level in front of my house. And this side of the road without cars was flooded.

The flood.

My house's 'longkang' (drain). Water level reaching critical.

If the rain is still pouring generously, that will mean danger! But, phew! Thank God. The rain has gone softer now.

The Good Samaritans.

And, last but not least, the picture of these group of people who were so kind. They stood with umbrella and their feet soaked in the flood water to warn and direct the drivers and motorcyclists away from the high water level ahead.

Arriving at the dinner place...

"The Lobsterman" @ SS2, Petaling Jaya

I was pretty curious on where are we going to dine in that night but all I knew was, the place is in Petaling Jaya and it starts with "L". Oh! And yea, it is not a cheap place.

"???"

"huh?"

Yeap, that was my exact response. I totally have NO idea where is that place until we reached.
It was totally a surprise. Actually when I thought of it now, very strictly speaking, it starts with "T" rather than "L". Nevertheless, I never knew of this place. It was kind of hidden but very prettily decorated with yellow light bulbs.

Fascinated by the 'tools'

I have never eaten lobster before and it was kind of an eye opener to see the cutleries used to 'dig' the lobster meat out. We did not have lobster but it was nonetheless a good meal.

Cheers! :)

The views: ...of the restaurant and out the restaurant (thru the glass)

The meal. (did not have lobster though, just for display... hehe)

First, a plate of baked escargot and then a bowl of mushroom soup with a basket of garlic bread was served before the arrival of the main meal. I was a bit hesitant to try the escargot but once i put it into my mouth, I immediately LOVE it! Baked with cheese and potato, it was supreme! The mushroom soup and the garlic bread was not only aromatic but delicious. I almost wanted to lick the bowl clean.

Our main dish was a lamb shank and a chicken. Decoration, effort, and taste was really good. The Lobsterman sure did a great job on non-lobster dish as well. It is just a plain pampering to the stomach.

Ambience was pretty good. I like it. Some said it is a bit bright but I thought it was ok. Plus point for dining here: they will come with a polaroid camera and take a picture of you. That was really cool. Definitely love it!

A complimentary card from The Lobsterman.

With a polaroid photo of you in it!

I just love this place. Would definitely love to try their lobster next time. Should really give this place a try and it is really not pricey for a cosy and fine dining like this.

Note: You can even check out their menu (with the price even!?!) at their website. Cool! :)

Thursday relief

After whole week of strenously hectic week, the weekend has finally come. What a relief! For the past one week, it is as if I don't even remember to have the time to take a breath. Early in the morning, before the day is lighted up, we have to crawl out of our bed to prepare to go to the hospital. From there, ward duties, clinics, bed-side-teachings (BST), continuous medical education (cme), presentation, lectures all continuosly, NON STOP. That is only one thing. A typical starts around 6 sthg in the morning until +/- 1130pm (depending whenever the lectures end). On an even more packed day, there will only be a merciful time just enough for us to gobble our lunch/dinner before resuming the activities again.

By Thursday, everyone was much relieved. After dinner, we stopped by this fair (some ladang and ternakan thingy). It was quite interesting. There were really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really huge cows, bull, and also some goats. They even have dalmantian species of goats! Besides that, there is lots of other things to see and buy. We even saw a Sabah cultural dance. The canopies were all nicely decorated and it is themed according to the states in Malaysia.

Well, thats all for today.. "Happy ' Merdeka', people!" :)

Modesto-Hilton

Few days ago, we decided to have some sort of a "high-class night" for fun. We were thinking of Argentina Steakhouse but flipping over the menu placed outside, it doesn't look too interesting so we jumped to the next door neighbour instead.

Dinner at Modesto (the restaurant), KL

There was only 2 table of diners, including us, that night. The surrounding and the ambience was nothing impressive or really worth mentioning about but it is still not a bad place though. It is simple and not crowded. Moving on to the food, no doubt they really pamper your taste buds with their deliciously fine cooking. However, it is not quite a satisfying meal. The portions are really small lor~!

(Chef's recommended) Pasta & Lamb shank with red wine and herbs

Comparitively speaking, the price wasn't really expensive for these kind of meal BUT given that size of the portion served on your plate, this place is awfully pricey. At least it gives you the feeling that it is not worth it.

After dinner, we drove to Hilton and have a drink. Since Le Meridien was just beside Hilton, we walked around, sipping in the 'classy' air. It was incredibly fulfilling. Le Meridien feels more cosy while Hilton is more lively. I decided we should go Hilton and so we went.

Le Meridien's lobby.

Le Meridien's passport.

Hilton hotel and my choco cinno.

A cup of rich and frothy drink, that gives you the "slluuurrrrrpppp....aahhhhhh" feeling, is simply perfect to conclude our night. That's our night out in KL.

Reunion Dinner

by | | 2 comments
Last Sunday, February the 11th, I had our reunion dinner with my extended family (all first, second, and third degree relatives) of paternal side. As usual our family dinner is held at the Damansara Palace Restaurant. Since my cousins have gradually expanded our Lim's family, some will 'sub' and have their own reunion dinner on CNY eve. So prior to CNY, there we are gathering and feasting together.

Took a few snapshots during the dinner:

my 'sort-of-nephews' (i think)

Actually, they are my grandfather's brother's wife's sister's grandchildren, so what do I call them? ...and yeah, the one in red is one of his twin brothers.

my mother and I

One of the twins took this picture for us, after me teaching them. Lovely isn't it :)

fried rice, the 2nd last dish (before dessert)

One of the twins, who sat beside me, forced me to take this picture. How? He kinda like threatened me and refused to eat unless I snap a picture of his bowl of fried rice and show it to him.

Didn't take much picture and that's about it, our 'dog/pig' year family reunion dinner.
