One Case Down

by | | 0 comments
"OMG!" It felt as if my heart is going to drop out or jump out.

Couldnt' sleep. Woke up much easier and earlier compared to usual. Slept less than 4 hours and I was in the MOPD waiting area for about an hour before being called in. Palpitation!

Surgical long case means medical short cases. Deadly combination.

I can't help but to utter, "Shit!" in reflex when being told about that. Especially it is an Ortho case which is completely my Achilles heel! Now I felt so sorry for saying that in front of my lecturer, "Sorry, Dr.M". I hope you know it comes to me like a dead sentence.

I was "gagap-ing" the whole way. Mind block and "Errsss". Which are totally poor prognostic factors!

Worse still, I mentioned left foot pathology as right foot! Gah! What the heck am I thinking?! The examiners sure will be thinking that this girl is worse than kindergarten student's level on anatomy.

Dorsal mentioned as ventral. Ah!!! (screaming at the top of my lungs, "Where did my brain go?!") Walao. Gagap. Gagap. gagap. All the way. Ish.

I don't really understand what they wanted, one shuffeled me to perform examination with running commentary, the other one kept telling "You got no time and you have done this already, right?" ....blur....

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...

2 more shots.

2 more case to go.

Brain, please come back.

Cool gift

by | | 0 comments
So this is the cool gift we got today. My roomate took one bottle of these mosquitoe pupae. It was still all 'pupae-ish', wringling little 'wormy' earlier this evening. And, now one of it has already hatched out!!!

It is really kinda cool. Even the skin is still floating around. Community med can be quite cool too, aye ;)

Dracula mission: failed!!!

Ward duty in the medical posting is practically tiring. Before 5pm I was already all drenched out under that nylon white coat. Thinking of the following 'on call' duty later is really an additional whip of torture to the mind. However, time seems to just past as the night proceeds. The 'on call' duty was more of taking up a 'dracula' job for the night. Being a freshie 3rd year student, venepuncture is the main procedure for a start. The doctors and nurses will just gladly assign you the specimen bottles and tell you the bed number. Then, just before you go prepare the 'tools' needed for the job, slowly you take a walk, search for the victim, and take a peek on who and how he or she is. After that, you will either feel more relieved, or you will feel that your palpitations just got faster. Throughout the proccess, the only things I felt was palpitations and focal concentration. Seeing blood oozing out is the only relieving factor. Most of the times it does seems as if we are looking for victims to be guinea pig, especially from the look patients gave. And the best part is that patients can really groan as you perform your job and also 'merajuk' if you failed to accomplish the given task. Now you think being a dracula is easy? I wish I don't have to. But I am thankful enough that I've not experienced that. However, today is really not my night.

CONGRATS!

Congrats to all! We have all made it through our pre clinical years. *whoopee*

Meet all of you in K.Terengganu, people :)

Just like what the external examiner drew on the board today,

the first point is when we first got into UCSI; the second is when we finished our Year 2 (pre clinical years) and the third point is when we graduate form medical school.

We have just completed our Year 2 and there is still a long way to go. This is just the beginning...
